New York City Ballet hires ƵDance Alumna

KSU Dance alumna Angelina Pellini told her senior seminar class that her ultimate career goal was to be stage manager for a Balanchine-based ballet company. Now, only a short few years later, Pellini is living her wildest dreams as the Assistant Stage Manager for the prestigious New York City Ballet.

Curated by Cynthia Nourse Thompson, Associate Professor of Fine Art and Director of Curatorial Affairs at the ZMA, the free exhibition runs Oct. 3 to Dec. 9.

Kennesaw State's Department of Theatre and Performance Studies presents "Sweat"

Ƶ’s Department of Theatre and Performance Studies (TPS) will present Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Sweat” in the Onyx Theater, October 3-8. Tickets are $10-$12 and are available online or by calling Patron Services at 470-578-6650. Filled with warm humor and tremendous heart, “Sweat” tells the story of a group of friends who have spent their lives sharing drinks, secrets, and laughs while working together in a factory. But when layoffs and picket lines begin to chip away at their trust, the friends find themselves pitted against each other in a heart-wrenching fight to stay afloat. For two and a half years, Nottage extensively interviewed Reading residents; in 2011, a report ranked Reading as the poorest city in the nation.

ƵBailey School of Music to host Grammy-nominated Imani Winds

Ƶ’s Bailey School of Music (BSOM) will host Imani Winds, the twice Grammy-nominated ensemble, on Friday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. A part of the ArtsKSU Presenting Series, the concert will kick off the BSOM's 2023-2024 ArtsKSU series.

ƵDepartment of Dance to Present World Premieres in "Double Exposure"

Lior Lazarof (Israel) and Nicola Wills (Belgium/Australia) were selected as the Eleo Pomare–Glen Conner Choreographic Residency recipients for summer 2023. Since arriving July 3, the two ambitious artists have been busy creating original works in collaboration with Dance students. The works will be performed August 25-26 in “Double Exposure,” opening the 2023-2024 season for DanceKSU.

ƵDepartment of Theatre & Performance Studies to present "Rent"

Ƶ Department of Theatre and Performance Studies (TPS) will present “Rent” April 6-16 at the Stillwell Theater on the Kennesaw campus. The iconic rock musical—with music, lyrics, and book by Jonathan Larson—offers an intimate encounter with a diverse group of young artists living in the lower east side of New York as they struggle to make ends meet during the siege of HIV Aids. Their relationships reinforce the power of a supportive community, and, most of all, the hope and joy that love offers amidst loss and despair.
