American Studies is an interdisciplinary field that explores American literature, history, and culture from a variety of disciplinary approaches, including that of English Studies. Both programs are deeply rooted in textual analysis and interdisciplinary research methods. MAST builds upon many of the foundations of English Studies and allows students to see how the value of understanding the human condition within cultural contexts presents opportunities for authentic community engagement and advanced research projects.
