Which Service to Use

When Do You Need It?

Today: Walk Up Service - Find your materials and drive to a local public college to pick it up.


Soon (3-5 business days):

  • Books: - Request a book and have it delivered to the campus library of your choice. 
  • Articles: Interlibrary Loan (ILL) - Request an article and have it delivered electronically to your interlibrary loan account.

I can wait (5-10 business days): Interlibary Loan (ILL) - Request books and other materials from libraries around the globe and have it delivered to the campus library of your choice. Please note that textbooks cannot be requested thorugh ILL.

 

GIL Express provides access to all eligible circulating material from libraries at all 26 University Sytem of Georgia (USG) institutions. GIL Express is available to all current KSU students, faculty, and staff. GIL Express is available through remote requesting allowing free delivery to the campus library of your choice as well as an on-site (walk up) service at any USG library. 

Why use GIL Express:

  • Access to books at all 26 USG institutions
  • Books delivered to KSU libraries at no cost
  • Books usually arrive in 3-5 business days
  • Convenient pick up at library check out desk

You can also visit any of these libraries and check out books. Just bring your KSU Student ID.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows current KSU faculty, staff, and students to request books, articles, book chapters, and many other types of materials from libraries around the globe at no cost. Before submitting a request, you should see if the material is available at KSU Libraries or at another USG library by checking the GIL Find catalog (linked). Frequently Asked Questions

The ARCHE Interlibrary Use Program allows faculty, staff, and students of member institutions to visit and borrow from the collections of other ARCHE member libraries.

In order to participate, a KSU faculty, staff, or student must be in good standing (no fines or blocks) with the KSU Library system and obtain an ARCHE card from either KSU Library Check Out Desk prior to visiting the ARCHE library.

  • A separate ARCHE card must be obtained for each institution visited.
  • Both your KSU ID and ARCHE card must be presented when checking out materials.
  • A new card must be issued by the KSU Check Out Desk each semester.
  • Loan periods and number of books allowed vary by institution.

**Please contact the ARCHE library prior to traveling to verify hours and access to desired collections.**
