Borrowing Privileges

Loan Periods

  • Books @ KSU: 28 days
  • Books / GIL Express: 90 days
  • Books / Interlibrary Loan: Loan periods set by the lending library
  • Laptops: 4 hours / In library use only. 
  • Course Reserves: At the discretion of course instructor.

Renewal

  • Books @ KSU: Up to 3 renewals
  • Books / GIL Express: No renewals
  • Interlibrary Loan: At the discretion of the lending Library
  • Laptops: 4 hours / In library use only.

Maximum Number of Items

  • Books @ KSU: 30 Books
  • Books / GIL Express: 100
  • Books / Interlibrary Loan: 15 items
  • Laptops: 1 per student
  • Course Reserves: 2 Items

Loan Periods

  • Books @ KSU: one semester
  • Books / GIL Express: 90 days
  • Books / Interlibrary Loan: Loan periods set by the lending library
  • Laptops: 4 hours / In library use only. 
  • Course Reserves: At the discretion of course instructor.

Renewal

  • Books @ KSU: No renewals, can borrow for one semester
  • Books / GIL Express: No renewals
  • Interlibrary Loan: At the discretion of the lending Library
  • Laptops: 4 hours / In library use only.

  • ÁñÁ«»ÆÊÓÆµ Libraries are open to the public. There is no need to sign-in or sign-up for anything in order to visit our library and use most library resources while in the library.

    Computing

    ÁñÁ«»ÆÊÓÆµors to KSU can use a guest computer in each of our libraries (2 hour limit). All other computers are for current KSU student use and require student log-in. Guests cannot access library resources from off-campus.

    Borrowing Privileges

    Residents of Georgia over the age of 18 may request a community borrower's card which provides limited borrowing privileges to the general collection. These privileges DO NOT include remote access to electronic resources OR borrowing services such as Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and GIL Express. Ask your local public library about requesting materials through their ILL service.

    Community Borrower's Privileges

    • Books: 5 books
    • Loan Period: 2 weeks
    • Renewal: 2 renewals
  • ÁñÁ«»ÆÊÓÆµing scholars with KSU IDs may borrow materials from the KSU Library System during their stay at the University. There are different loan periods for short-term visitors (6 months or less) and long-term visitors (7 months or more).

    Loan Periods

    • Books @ KSU: Short-term visitors-2 weeks | Long-term visitors – Due annually on August 31 or upon item recall
    • Books/GIL Express: *Only for long-term visitors*- 28 days
    • Books/Interlibrary Loan: *Only for long-term visitors*- Loan periods are set by the lending library

    Renewal

    • Books @ KSU: Short-term visitor-3 renewals | Long-term visitors-NO
    • Renewals – Due annually on August 31 or upon item recall
    • Books/GIL Express: *Only for long-term visitors*-2 Renewals – Library Account OR GIL Express Account
    • Books/Interlibrary Loan: *Only for long-term visitors* At the discretion of the lending library

My Library Account allows you to renew materials, place holds, and more. This will also allow you to see your current loans and due dates for all materials.

To see your Interlibrary Loan account information (ILL), access your ILLiad Account.

Information About Fees

  • As of June 2023, the KSU Library System no longer charges overdue fines.
  • Items not returned are subject to replacement fees.
  • Students owing fees in excess of $10 will be unable to check-out or renew material until the fee is paid.
  • Delinquent accounts may result in an administrative hold that could prevent registration for future terms and possibly graduation.
  • Lost or Damaged Items:  Replacement cost determined by library.
