Counseling & Psychological Services Outreach and Programs

KSU Counseling and Psychological Services is committed to supporting the educational mission of the university and providing mentorship to students interested in the helping professions. Our CAPS team and Peer Counselors are available to offer the presentations for academic courses, student organizations, and staff meetings upon requests.  Course instructors must be present during all requested CAPS class presentations. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;
 
Outreach requests must be received at least 3 weeks in advance of the request date.  Request made less than 3 weeks in advance are not guaranteed to be filled.  A member of our CAPS Outreach Team will contact you to discuss your request further.  Due to the high volume of requests, please understand that we may not be able to accommodate multiple requests from a single department or organization.

Types of Outreach CAPS Provides

  • A student may submit a request to meet with a counselor to conduct an interview to complete a course assignment. 
  • A staff or faculty member may submit a request to have a member of our team provide a presentation for a lecture or course period. Course instructors MUST be present for all classroom presentations. 
  • Any faculty, staff, or student can request a collaboration with a CAPS staff member. Such requests must be received at least 4 weeks in advance of the presentation date, as they may require planning time between the requestor and the presenter to assure the achievement of desired learning outcomes.   

  • Any faculty, staff, or student can request a collaboration with our student peer counselors. Peer counselors provide Mental Health 101 presentations and tabling at campus events.

Standard Presentations

  • This presentation will inform participants on ways for students to understand and discuss mental health with their peers. Topics addressed include warning signs, methods of supporting friends or loved ones experiencing mental health challenges and identifies resources for seeking help. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;
  • This presentation on change and resilience explores the dynamics of adapting to challenges and transformations in professional contexts. It highlights strategies for building resilience and embracing change as opportunities for growth. It aims to empower audiences with the tools needed to navigate uncertainty and thrive in changing environments. 
  • This presentation will inform participants of the resources, points of contact, and expectations for support provided by Counseling and Psychological Services.   

  • This presentation will inform participants of the causes, experiences, and coping strategies associated with anxiety and depression. Topics include the influence of stress, the mind body connection, and ways to managing anxiety and depression.   

    Virtual workshops will be hosted using Microsoft Teams.

    Students are invited to RSVP on our and an invitation to the MS Teams meeting will be sent to you prior to the event. You can RSVP up to one hour (60 minutes) prior to start time.

  • This presentation is focused on identifying the components of mental health, how we utilize them, how they impact our everyday lives, and a few good mental health practices that can be implemented. 
  • This presentation informs participants of the meaning and importance of self-care. It covers 8 types of self-care, signals for needing care, and ways to exercise care for oneself. Information regarding CAPS is also provided. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;
  • This presentation informs parents and family members of ways to understand and discuss mental health with students. Topics include warning signs, conversation guides.
