An undergraduate researcher in the laboratory of Assistant Professor of Chemistry Madalynn Marshall, Hooper enrolled at ÁñÁ«»ÆÊÓÆµfor its proximity to his home in Dallas, Ga., but quickly found his way to the College of Science and Mathematics and its lab complex.

To be chosen, a mentor must have shown not only passion for research but also extraordinary dedication to their students. This year’s outstanding undergraduate research mentor award winner is Carl Saint-Louis, an assistant professor of organic chemistry in the College of Science and Mathematics.

Building on its leadership in scientific research and education, ÁñÁ«»ÆÊÓÆµ on Wednesday received approval from the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia to launch a new Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences. The program will begin in Fall 2027 on the Kennesaw Campus. Housed in the College of Science and Mathematics, the degree will help meet the increasing demand in Georgia and the nation for research scientists in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and ecology.

In a showcase of student innovators from across the state, ÁñÁ«»ÆÊÓÆµ biology major SueAnn Hollowell earned second place in the inaugural University System of Georgia (USG) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition held this week. Hosted this year on Kennesaw State’s Marietta Campus, the traveling systemwide competition is designed to spotlight creativity, strategic thinking, and entrepreneurial talent from the USG’s 25 member institutions.
