Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy

KSU School of Communication and Media students can study mass communication in Milan, Italy. Students can enroll in one, two or three courses during the summer that emphasize Italian mass media, public relations and advertising. These courses count toward their major, concentration, related studies or free elective requirements. This is a summer only study abroad program.

Universidad de Carlos III in Madrid, Spain

School of Communication and Media students live in Madrid, Spain and enroll in ENGLISH language media and journalism classes. These courses count toward their major, concentration, related studies or free elective requirements. This is a fall and/or spring semester study abroad program.

Integrated Global Communication Study Tour

School of Communication and Media graduate students earning their master's degree in Integrated Global Communication spend one to two weeks per year on a country specific study tour. In the last several years, professor-led study tours have visited communication organizations in China, South Korea, Belgium, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Students earn academic credit toward their masters' degrees. For more information, contact the program director.

European Academy in Otzenhausen, Germany

School of Communication and Media graduate students earning their master's degree in Integrated Global Communication spend one week at the European Academy learning about communication issues with European and German sustainability, law or politics. Professional Work Abroad Opportunities

Golin Public Relations - London, UK

Graduate students can apply to spend their Summer job shadowing at one of the premiere global public relations firms in the U.K. One student will be selected.

As a global integrated communications agency with practices including corporate, consumer, health, technology and social media, Golin is excellently placed to give students exposure to all aspects of Public Relations. They will experience what it is like to work in the communications industry. The chosen student will see what the media team does to build relationships with journalists and bloggers and witness first-hand with Golin's client teams what expert client counsel looks like. Graduate students can apply to spend their Summer job shadowing at Failte Ireland, Ireland's official tourism promotions authority. One student will be selected.

The successful student will join the marketing team in Fáilte Ireland HQ in Dublin where he/she will be given an introduction to the media integration model of the organisation and offered an opportunity to shadow some of the team engaged in the delivery of this exciting communications program. CNN's London, U.K. bureau

Journalism and Media Studies students can apply to spend their Spring Break job shadowing at CNN's London, U.K. bureau.

The selected student will learn how CNN develops and tracks international news stories each day. He or she will sit in on editorial meetings; meet reporters, editors and producers; and observe live, international news broadcasts from London. This is a great opportunity to learn about international news and media. For more information, contact the program director.

Journalism and Media Studies students can apply to spend their Spring Break job shadowing at the BBC bureau in Sussex, Tunbridge Wells, UK (one hour south of London)

The selected student will learn how the BCC develops and tracks news stories each day. He or she will spend one day with a reporter in the field; sit in on daily news meetings; spend one day with BBC Radio; and work in the newsroom with a reporter and producer. Two students who are enrolled in the School of Communication and Media's master's program in Integrated Global Communication will spend four weeks in the summer working in the Seongdong-Gu administrative offices. Work assigned by Seongdong-Gu administrators will focus on one or more of the following areas:

  • Public affairs
  • Government affairs
  • International relations
  • Media relations
  • Marketing
  • Organizational communication

Graduate students can apply to spend their summer interning at the Nobile Wines Consortium in Montepulciano, Italy. The one student who is selected will join the consortium's public relations team and work on social media, marketing and event planning projects.
